Rocephin 2gm/vial, 1.00 powdered vials
Rocephin Vials (Ceftriaxone Sodium)
Description of Rocephin Vials and How it Works
Rocephin Vials are prescribed to treat various bacterial infections that may be complicated and require you to be hospitalized. These include community or hospital acquired pneumonia, bone or joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, and complicated urinary tract infections. The vials contain the powder form of this antibiotic drug that must be diluted with sterile form of fluid and then injected by a doctor or other professional healthcare worker.
The injections may be administered deep into a muscle (IM), added to a diluent and delivered slowly through an intravenous (IV) drip set that delivers the Ceftriaxone Sodium generic or brand into a vein, or a diluent (a specific fluid that dilutes the powdered drug so it can be drawn up into a syringe) is added and the injection is slowly given directly into a vein. The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.
Once injected into your vein or muscle, Ceftriaxone Sodium will work by preventing the action of certain enzymes in order to disrupt the production of essential proteins the bacteria need to form a protective cell wall. Without the proper materials, the cell walls will form holes and allow the contents to leak out while other substances seep in and the bacteria will die.
Complicated UTI Treatment with Rocephin Vials
Complications of a urinary tract infection could lead to a severe kidney infection called pyelonephritis. Bacteria can enter your body through the urethra and begin to multiply. Without prompt and proper treatment, the bacteria can spread to your bladder and travel through the ureters to your kidneys. Symptoms include fever, painful urination, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and mental confusion. Rocephin Vials may be administered in hospital over a period of time as recommended by your doctor to get the upper hand on the bacteria and may be followed with oral antibiotics when you are discharged.
Before You are Given Rocephin Vials
Discuss your current medical health with your doctor and advise if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding. List all OTC and Rx drugs you take or use, including herbal remedies and dietary or vitamin supplements, so your doctor can determine if Rocephin Vials is safe for you.
Important Information About Rocephin Vials or generic Ceftriaxone Sodium
A small percentage of people that are allergic to penicillin, or have shown a sensitivity to it, should inform the attending doctor as you may be more likely to have the same reaction to Rocephin Vials. In cases of an extreme adverse reaction to penicillin or any other drug classes, you should always carry a card or ID bracelet that indicates your allergies and/or medical conditions you have. This will greatly reduce health risks if you are too sick to communicate or unconscious when you are admitted to a hospital for treatment.
